Ian Hickson Weekly QA Status
Week Ending 2001-02-09
Accomplishments for this week:
- Very actively participated in CSS working group discussions, including reviewing the Character Model for the World Wide Web 1.0 working draft, and proposing an outline for a replacement or alternative to the UI module, created based on discussion with other Mozilla contributors (in particular David Hyatt).
- New automated DOM2 CSS tests: over 21 in 2 files (including locating one crasher, to be reduced).
- Performed 35 bug modifications / comments / triage / etc.
- Nominated various bugs for nsbeta1/mozilla0.9 or mozilla1.0.
- Continued prioritising the most important layout-orientated compliance bugs.
- Spent time discussing design of new outliner widget with Hyatt.

Goals for this week were met.
Goals for next week:
- Next week I will concentrate on creating more DOM2 testcases. I aim to create around 10 non-control testcases.
- I will also get together with Hyatt to explain XBL to Marc, and expand on my alternative UI module proposal to the w3c-css-wg (w3c-reps meeting action items).
Upcoming Time Off:
- I am planning to go to the W3C conference at the end of February (not quite time off, but I'll be away).
Group Issues:
- We currently have no-one covering HTML QA, possibly the most important part of a web browser. We are also currently unable to deal efficiently with incoming Layout, Parser, Views and Compositor bugs (together, layout bug triage) because we don't have enough people to work on these areas. As I have said before, I don't think we can safely assure the quality of the project on our current (or projected) head count.
Individual Concerns:
The Personals!
- I must update the monopoly web page...
